Mommy Braggin’

my thoughts on my great kids

I’m Back! September 26, 2007

Filed under: Baby Doll, Little Man, My Love — mommybraggin @ 9:00 pm

Well, here I am…back from running around like a chicken with my head cut off.  Oh, I still feel like that chicken; I’ve just stopped long enough to write!  Thank you for being patient and for praying for me through this time.  Please continue to pray for our family.  The transition is just beginning, and I personally think that I need the prayers now as much as ever.  I’ll leave it at that for now to avoid flooding my house…with tears.

My Love is away “on business” this week, but thankfully my parents are here.  We have enjoyed each other and the kiddos have enjoyed having them around as well.  I always had such a great relationship with my grandparents.  It thrills me to see my kids have that with their grandparents.  I’m so thankful that My Love and I have parents that are so involved…I just wish they weren’t so far away.

This morning we went to the park to take some pictures.  Baby Doll is 6 months old, and I wanted some really nice pictures of her.  My Daddy is a great photographer, so I put him to work.  The pictures are absolutely WONDERFUL!  I’m posting some for you to enjoy.

While I was away, many things happened.  We’ve moved into our house, and My Love has officially started his new job, which he absolutely loves.  Baby Doll now waves bye bye.  She started that last week.  It is adorable.  She does it with a huge smile on her face.  Little Man has learned to peddle his “motorcycle” really well.  He can even go up the hill on our street.  It is a big accomplishment for him.  As for me, not much new other than I’ve found that I’m really good at making a mess after unpacking boxes!  :)   I hope that you enjoy the beautiful pictures of my sweet children!

Moving In September 10, 2007

Filed under: Baby Doll, Little Man, My Love — mommybraggin @ 8:31 pm

Tomorrow My Love and I have decided to stay at our new house.  The movers will come Wednesday with our stuff.  Since we have to be there by 8, we’ve decided to just “camp out”.  Hopefully we will be able to get a mattress for Little Man tomorrow.  We’ve decided to go ahead and take him out of his toddler bed since he tends to sleep all over the full sized bed he’s been sleeping in.  Today I went and got some sheets, Spiderman of course!  I’m excited to see Little Man’s reaction.  I say all of this to let you know we haven’t gotten our Internet hooked up at the new house so we may not be communicating for a few days.  Hopefully by the end of the week we will be back!

Before I go I’d like to ask you to pray for Baby Doll.  She has a cold or bad allergies; I’m not sure which one.  Her cough sounds like a seal, but I remember having that same cough as a kid and Little Man has it as well.  If this were my first child, I would’ve already been to the doctor.  Yet, she’s my second so I’m giving her OTCs.  She is such a great baby, even though she is sick and you can tell she doesn’t feel good she still smiles and doesn’t complain too much.  Her voice is hoarse.  She sounds like Punky Brewster.  Does anyone out there remember Punky Brewster?!  I used to love that show!  Anyway, thanks a ton for covering us in prayer.  We can surely tell that your prayers are with us.

Finally, if you have a chance, click on this link.  It is really cool!  It will give you God chills!

I’ve been tagged! September 7, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — mommybraggin @ 12:12 pm

Well, I’m about to do something against my people-pleasing personality.  I’m going to NOT follow the rules!  One of my friends tagged me, several weeks ago, and I’m finally finding the time to respond.  I’m listing the rules so that you know what I’m rebelling from!  Instead of rule #4, I’m going to tag all of you that read this post.  Then, leave me a comment telling me 1-8 random facts about you.  I think that this will be fun!  (Or it will flop if you don’t respond.)

The Rules:

1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules. (**if you’re a non-blogger, you can email them!)
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Random facts about me:

1.  I absolutely LOVE roller coasters.  In fact, if I had a free day (and some extra money), I’d take off to Six Flags and ride, ride, ride!  I yearn to go to Six Flags, Disney World, Silver Dollar City, anywhere that has roller coasters.  The last two times I’ve been to a theme park I’ve been pregnant.  Both times I asked my OB/GYN permission to ride.  He said ‘no’ both times.

2.  I’m so excited that we live near my Alma Mater!  I can’t wait to go to some games and meet up with some college buddies.  I really think that Little Man will enjoy all the excitement at the games.

3.  I hate it when people have comments such as, “Look at that fat baby.”  “Boy, I bet she’s a really good eater.”  “What a big baby.”  I’ve about decided to repeat the comment back to the person saying it.  It would sound something like this:  “Look at that fat woman.”  “Wow, you must really like to eat!”  “What a big lady.”  Notice I used all female references, because it is always a woman that says these rude comments.

4.  If I could pack my momma and daddy in my suitcase, I would.

5.  I’m excited about moving into a new house.  It’s not everything that I wanted, but I really think that it is right for our family.  I love organizing and decorating.  I look forward to doing those two things soon!

6.  I really miss teaching Sunday School or a discipleship class.  I hope that God will give me an opportunity to do one of these soon.

7.  I wish that they made a baby monitor that stretched really far and brought you home in an instant, if needed.  My Love is totally against treadmills in the house, and it is so hot I find it hard to walk outside at a convenient time for the varying routines.  It’d be great if I could go to the gym during nap time with my handy-dandy super baby monitor and flash home when needed.  Oh well, I guess I’ll enjoy the fact that both of my children still have a nap time! :)

8.  My favorite words to hear right now, “I love you too, Momma.”

Tag everybody reading this.  It’s your turn to share something about yourself!  Don’t be shy; just do it!

First Day of School September 6, 2007

Filed under: Little Man — mommybraggin @ 7:34 pm

Well, today Little Man started school.  He did such a great job!  My Love’s schedule worked out, and he was able to take and pick up Little Man with me.  I was so thankful.  When we picked Little Man up, he didn’t hear the teacher call his name so we were able to watch him play for a little while.  Then I said something, and he turned around and came running.  I love that he knows my voice so well.  It was a priceless expression.  He said that he had lots of fun and is ready to go back.  The teacher said that he kept saying, “Where are my friends?”  Her reply, “They’re right here.”  “Oh, yeah!  These are my best friends!”  How cute and sweet!  We told him that he would play with some friends at school.  I’m sure he was looking for all those kids he played with at Sunday School.  I love how much he loves people.  Honey says that he reminds her a lot of My Love at this age.  Fine with me if he turns out as great as his Daddy!

Here is Little Man on his nap mat.  I think that it is so cute, and he loves all of the trucks of course.  I guess that he took an okay nap; I didn’t ask because I didn’t want to be ‘that Mom’!

I know that My Daddy is so proud of the lovely background I chose for this picture!  Truth be known, my camera works so much better outside so that’s what made me think of doing this outside.  Anyway, isn’t Little Man just the cutest boy ever!  Here he is with all of his school gear.  Notice the “friendlies” backpack Honey and PawPaw gave him.  Of course, he wanted to take it!  He also picked out a baseball lunch box that he can zip all by himself.  The other bag is his nap mat which thankfully gets to stay at school.  Less for me to tote!

Those of you that know me well will be surprised to hear that I didn’t cry today.  I did tear up a little, but no tears flowed!  Amazing, I know!  :)

We’re Here! September 4, 2007

Filed under: Baby Doll, God, Little Man, My Love — mommybraggin @ 3:55 pm

Well, I must say, “God is GOOD!”  I cannot believe that we made it.  It was certainly only by His grace and strength.  Glory to Him who can do immeasurably more that we can ask or imagine.  He surely has done and is doing for my family and me.  The trip here was great.  Little Man and Baby Doll did well.  They have both slept like crazy since we got here yesterday.  Their bodies were so tired from almost a week of straight travel.  Whew!

My Love has graduated.  We had a great time doing all of the graduation events.  I’ll leave those for him to tell on his site.  Right now he has gone to get some keys so that we can look at houses when the kids wake up from their naps.

Back to God being good…This whole time I have just been amazed at how He has made each step better than I had hoped for.  In all honesty, along the way I have even thought of myself stepping into sort of a “promised land” because things have been so nice.  For example, I thought that when we got here we would be put up in a hotel room.  That is what it sounded like from everyone I talked to and everything that I read on-line.  Yet, when we got here we saw that we are living in luxury!  It is awesome!  We have two bedrooms, two baths, a full size fridge, stove, sink, etc., a living room that is huge, a dining room, and a washer and drier in our suite!  Now that is luxury to me!  I’m getting tears and having to type slowly because I am in such awe of how good God is.  He takes such good care of me.  Thank you, Lord.  My whole summer has been that way, from the parsonage that BBC loaned to us to now.  He is so good.  I love when David said, “The Lord delivered me from the bear and He delivered me from the lion so I know He’ll deliver me from this Philistine.” (my own paraphrase)  My faith has truly been built, and I pray that God recieves all the glory that my life can bring Him.

Earlier today the whole family took a trip to the local FBC which has a Mother’s Day Out program.  Little Man enjoyed playing with the girls so much this summer and kept asking to go to school with them once school started so I thought that he may be ready to go a couple days a week.  We got to meet the teachers and see his class.  When we got back to the suite he asked to go back to school.  He seems very excited.  We pretty much gave him the choice, and he seems ready.  Today was the first day of MDO, and we plan to start Little Man Thursday.  It’s a bit hard for me to “let go”, but I think that Little Man will greatly enjoy his time at school.  Pappy Daycare is no longer an option, unfortunately.  :(   I love and miss you, My Daddy!  You too, Mom :)
