Mommy Braggin’

my thoughts on my great kids

Mamie and Pappy’s Visit June 14, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — mommybraggin @ 8:20 pm

Mamie and Pappy came for a week to help me while My Love was gone for about 2 weeks.  It was so nice to have them here.  They got here the day that My Love left, so I didn’t even have time to feel lonely or sorry for myself.  It was very relaxing for me, and I loved having time with my parents.  The kids had a blast as well.  We did a lot of stuff, but we stayed close to home so it still felt relaxing to me.  Little Man was ecstatic to see Mamie and Pappy when they got here.  I love seeing him so excited; it’s precious.  Baby Doll took to them easily as well.  She is really doing better at going to people other than me.  Praise the good Lord!

I hope that you enjoy all of the pictures!  We sure had fun making the memories that go along with them!  I have a video of Little Man making a hole in one, but I can’t get it to upload.  Sorry!  Happy Weekend!!!

As I said in my last post, we went to see the Doodlebops a few weekends ago.  My Love had been gone for the week, and it was so fun to take off as a family and get away.  The kids did great in the car, which is a BIG deal in our family.  We don’t make the greatest travel babies!  :)   Baby Doll decided that she could hold her bottle by herself, so that helped me tremendously.  (I confess…she falls asleep taking her bottle oh…95% of the time…please pray for me.  I don’t know if I’ll ever get her to give it up, but that’s another blog.)  Back on subject,  we had a great hotel, and the show was AWESOME!!!  Little Man’s favorite character is Bus Driver Bob.  He was the first one out, and we were sooooooo excited that he was in the show too.  Little Man danced and waved his Doodlebop flag.  It was so fun to see him see them in person.  He has now asked to see some other of his favorite characters in person!  We’ll see!

I’ve been tagged! September 7, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — mommybraggin @ 12:12 pm

Well, I’m about to do something against my people-pleasing personality.  I’m going to NOT follow the rules!  One of my friends tagged me, several weeks ago, and I’m finally finding the time to respond.  I’m listing the rules so that you know what I’m rebelling from!  Instead of rule #4, I’m going to tag all of you that read this post.  Then, leave me a comment telling me 1-8 random facts about you.  I think that this will be fun!  (Or it will flop if you don’t respond.)

The Rules:

1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules. (**if you’re a non-blogger, you can email them!)
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Random facts about me:

1.  I absolutely LOVE roller coasters.  In fact, if I had a free day (and some extra money), I’d take off to Six Flags and ride, ride, ride!  I yearn to go to Six Flags, Disney World, Silver Dollar City, anywhere that has roller coasters.  The last two times I’ve been to a theme park I’ve been pregnant.  Both times I asked my OB/GYN permission to ride.  He said ‘no’ both times.

2.  I’m so excited that we live near my Alma Mater!  I can’t wait to go to some games and meet up with some college buddies.  I really think that Little Man will enjoy all the excitement at the games.

3.  I hate it when people have comments such as, “Look at that fat baby.”  “Boy, I bet she’s a really good eater.”  “What a big baby.”  I’ve about decided to repeat the comment back to the person saying it.  It would sound something like this:  “Look at that fat woman.”  “Wow, you must really like to eat!”  “What a big lady.”  Notice I used all female references, because it is always a woman that says these rude comments.

4.  If I could pack my momma and daddy in my suitcase, I would.

5.  I’m excited about moving into a new house.  It’s not everything that I wanted, but I really think that it is right for our family.  I love organizing and decorating.  I look forward to doing those two things soon!

6.  I really miss teaching Sunday School or a discipleship class.  I hope that God will give me an opportunity to do one of these soon.

7.  I wish that they made a baby monitor that stretched really far and brought you home in an instant, if needed.  My Love is totally against treadmills in the house, and it is so hot I find it hard to walk outside at a convenient time for the varying routines.  It’d be great if I could go to the gym during nap time with my handy-dandy super baby monitor and flash home when needed.  Oh well, I guess I’ll enjoy the fact that both of my children still have a nap time! :)

8.  My favorite words to hear right now, “I love you too, Momma.”

Tag everybody reading this.  It’s your turn to share something about yourself!  Don’t be shy; just do it!

Living on a Prayer June 17, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — mommybraggin @ 9:14 pm

All my 80’s friends are now singing Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” song!  However, I just wanted to highlight the fact that your prayers are what are sustaining my family.  Father’s Day was challenging for me.  I knew that it would be.  Our music minister sang the song that goes, “I wanna be just like you, cause he wants to be just like me.  Let me be a holy example for his innocent eyes to see…”  It’s about a Daddy and his little boy.  This is a song that My Love and I sing to encourage ourselves to be, as the song says, a Bible for our children to read.  Well, I lost it during the song.  Thankfully, my daddy was sitting beside me and had a handkerchief.  My Love is a holy example for our children to see.  They are blessed to have a Daddy that strives more than anything to please God.  Happy Father’s Day, My Love.

Tonight I put the kids down by myself.  (I’ve been having help from my parents, Nanny, or one of the girls…total blessing.)  At first I thought that it was going to be a disaster, because Little Man was really missing Daddy.  Yet, God once again came through.  Baby Doll went in her swing, which she usually doesn’t do this time of night, and I was able to cuddle with and rock Little Man without sister in my lap, which he needed badly.  The rest of the night went smoothly, even with the cat going wild!  I share this story to give glory to God.  I know that only He could orchestrate tonight and allow it to happen without a hitch.  Your prayers are making my life smoother.  Thank you!  I love you all.

King Eternal June 14, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — mommybraggin @ 9:10 pm

I wanted to write yesterday, but I decided not to.  For those of you who are children’s literature buffs, I had what Alexander would call a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.  I started feeling sorry for myself, and then I decided to count my blessings and pray.  It’s amazing the healing that God can do when we allow him.  Today I’m writing to celebrate His faithfulness.  One of the bad things that happened yesterday is Baby Doll’s door on our van wouldn’t close all the way.  We figured out that one of the latches broke, but we couldn’t figure out how to fix it.  Needless to say this is definitely a problem I would pass off to My Love, but I didn’t have that luxury.  I broke down crying and just wanted to crawl into my bed and quit…..Let’s move on to today.  After confirming that the van is still under warranty, Pappy and I drove to the Ford place.  The man in the service center came out to get all the info off of the van, and we showed him what we thought was wrong.  He did a little tugging and shimmying and fixed it just like that!  I couldn’t help it; I just had to hug that man!  What an answer to prayer!  I don’t know why I don’t expect things like this from God.  Not only did he part the Red Sea, close the lions’ mouths, raise Jesus from the grave, etc. but he has also brought me through so many times in life.  When My Love and I married he sang a song that we purposefully chose as our desire for our lives together.  I’ll end today with the words taken from 1 Timothy 1:17, “Unto the King eternal, unto the Lord immortal, unto the God invisible, You alone are wise.  Unto the King eternal, unto the Lord immortal, unto the God invisible, You alone are wise.  All glory and honor forever to you, O God.  All glory and honor forever to You, my King eternal.  To You, My King eternal.  You alone are wise. You alone are my King eternal.”  May My Love and I never lose sight of our King eternal for He alone is wise.

Zoo Fun June 12, 2007

Today Mamie, Pappy, Blondie, Little Man, Baby Doll, and I all made the trip to the zoo.  It was a blast!  The zoo we went to was absolutely wonderful.  We saw pandas, polar bears, and all the “normal” zoo animals.  In fact, we skipped some areas because there was so much to see and Little Man and Blondie are still nappers.  Therefore we could only stay for so long before they were about to collapse.  Little Man and Blondie sure loved watching the polar bear swim.  I did too! :)   They kept trying to catch him as he swam past us.  It was precious.

Swimming Fun! June 11, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — mommybraggin @ 8:59 pm

Little Man really enjoys the pool.  Last week we went with Mamie, Pappy, and the girls.  Today we (Well, really Pappy with some help from Mamie.)  blew up a pool that Mamie bought Little Man for the back yard.  He and Blondie, one of the girls, had a ball swimming.  It is the perfect size for the two of them.  They splashed and swam like they were training for the Olympics!  Baby Doll enjoyed watching but was not a fan of the heat or the cold water.

My love and I had our 6th Anniversary Saturday.  He didn’t take me out to eat or anything.  Can you believe it?  Just Kidding.  I thought I’d share a picture of what I got him to celebrate our 6 years being happily married.

If you know My Love well, you know that I really didn’t get this for our Anniversary.  But, we do now have a cat.  I think that My Love may get a complex, though.  When he went away for college, his family got a dog.  Now we have a cat!  Here’s the story.  Friday when we got out of VBS we heard meowing as we were getting into the van.  One of the girls was with us, and neither she nor I thought anything of it.  Then we realized it was coming from under the van.  I looked under there and saw this precious kitten.  Of course, I had to get it out.  Well, the cat was scared so the girl and I had to work hard to coax the cat out.  The girl even crawled under the van.  Then we brought it home.  My Love said, “Why didn’t you just leave it in the grass?”  My reply, “It never crossed my mind!”  Little Man loves the cat.  Pappy says the cat probably would have rather gotten run over than live at our house!  He may be right.

Milestones June 8, 2007

We’ve had a great week with VBS at church and Nanny at home.  Mamie came over today and said, “Wow, your house looks great.”  My response, “Yeah, Nanny’s been here!”  We love Nanny and hated to see her go.  My Love is homesick which makes me sad.  Therefore, I had an even harder time seeing Nanny leave today.  I took Little Man and Baby Doll to Mamie and Pappy’s house so that I’d have someone to talk to about it.  We got home around 3, and both kids were ready to rock.  I put them both in my lap, and Baby Doll decided she wanted to eat a little more.  When I got up to feed her, Little Man said, “Don’t rock me, Momma.”  So I sat on the couch to feed Baby Doll, and Little Man went to sleep in the recliner.  Now, those of you that know Little Man best know that this was a miracle.  He only sleeps in his bed.  I, of course, had to take pictures.  Here they are for you to enjoy!

Baby Doll turned 3 months this week.  She literally slept all day on her 3 month birthday, so I took this picture the day after.  Isn’t she beautiful?  Little Man had to have his picture taken with the Cabbage Patch too, but I don’t have it to show off!  Notice her left big toe…that is exactly what Little Man does with his toes!
